Range rover vogue climate screen install guide

One of the most popular interior upgrades for the Range Rover Vogue L405 (2013–2017) is the climate control screen replacement — and it's easy to see why. The factory climate panel on these models uses physical buttons and a small display that looks increasingly dated against newer Vogue generations. The Victorious climate control upgrade screen replaces it entirely with a high-resolution touchscreen that makes the interior feel significantly more modern — and it's plug and play.

This guide covers the complete installation process from start to finish. The job takes around 30–45 minutes and requires only basic tools. It's one of the most satisfying interior upgrades available for the L405 at any price.

Victorious Automotive offers two versions of the climate control upgrade screen for the Range Rover Vogue 2013–2017. The key difference is whether your current dashboard has a CD player slot:

Check before ordering: Look at your current climate panel. If there is a CD slot visible below the climate controls, order the V1 version. If there is no CD slot — or it has been blanked off — order the V2. If you're unsure, call our advisors on +44 203 943 9919 and we'll confirm which version fits your car.

The V2 Climate Control Upgrade Screen — front view and fitted in the Range Rover Vogue 2013–2017 dashboard

What you'll need

Tools and materials

·         Plastic trim removal tool — essential for releasing the factory panel without scratching the dashboard surround

·         Small flat-head screwdriver (wrapped in tape to protect trim) — useful for releasing stubborn clips

·         Torx T20 screwdriver or bit — for any retaining screws behind the panel

·         Microfibre cloth — to protect the dashboard surface while working

·         Phone or torch — useful for seeing behind the panel when connecting the cable

Good news: This is a plug and play upgrade. There is a single cable connection — no wiring, no soldering, no coding required. The new screen connects directly to the existing factory connector and the car recognises it immediately on startup.

Step-by-step installation

1

Prepare the interior

Park on a level surface with the engine off and ignition removed. Lay a microfibre cloth across the top of the centre console directly below the climate panel — this protects the veneer or leather from scratches during removal. The climate panel is located directly below the main infotainment screen in the centre stack.

2

Release the factory climate panel

The factory climate panel is retained by a combination of clips around its perimeter. Starting at one of the lower corners, insert your plastic trim tool into the seam between the panel face and the surrounding trim. Apply gentle, even pressure toward you — the clips are designed to release with horizontal pressure. Work around all four edges methodically, releasing each clip in turn. Don't rush this step — patient pressure always wins over force.

3

Pull the panel forward carefully

With all perimeter clips released, the factory panel will hinge forward slightly. Do not pull it fully free yet — it is still connected to the vehicle via the wiring loom at the rear. Hold the panel gently with one hand and support it while you access the connector at the back.

4

Disconnect the factory connector

With the panel held forward, you will see a single multi-pin connector at the rear of the unit. Press the release tab on the connector housing — usually a small plastic lever on one side — and pull the connector firmly away from the panel. The factory panel is now completely free. Set it aside carefully.

The upgrade screen uses the same connector as the factory unit — one connection, plug and play

5

Connect the new upgrade screen

Take your Victorious climate control upgrade screen and locate the connector at its rear — it matches the factory connector precisely. Press it firmly into the socket until you feel and hear it click into place. Give it a gentle tug to confirm it is fully seated. A partially seated connector is the most common cause of any initial issues, so take a moment to confirm the connection is solid before proceeding.

6

Test before fitting

Before pressing the new screen into the dashboard aperture, do a quick test. With the new screen connected and held in position, insert the ignition key and turn to position II (all electrics on, engine off). The screen should illuminate immediately and display your climate settings. Test the touchscreen controls and confirm all functions respond correctly — temperature, fan speed, seat heating if applicable. If anything is unresponsive, check the connector is fully seated and try again.

Important: Always test before fitting. It takes 30 seconds and saves you removing the panel again if there is a connection issue.

7

Seat the new screen in the dashboard

With the test confirmed, carefully fold the wiring back behind the panel and offer the new screen up to the dashboard aperture. Start with the upper edge — locate it into the top of the aperture first and press gently. Then work around the perimeter, pressing each clip home in turn. The new screen uses the same clip positions as the factory unit, so it seats with the same satisfying click. Work from the top down and from the centre outward for the cleanest result.

8

Final check

Press firmly across the entire face of the new panel to confirm all clips are fully seated — pay particular attention to the corners, which are the last to engage. Run your fingertip around the perimeter and check for any gaps between the screen surround and the dashboard trim. Step back and check the screen is level and centred in the aperture. Start the car and confirm full functionality one final time.

Setting up your new screen

The upgrade screen is pre-configured to work immediately with your Range Rover Vogue's existing climate control system — no coding or dealer visit required. On first use, take a moment to familiarise yourself with the touchscreen layout:

·         Temperature controls — swipe or tap the temperature zones exactly as you would on a smartphone display

·         Fan speed — adjustable via the touch controls replacing the factory rotary dial

·         Seat heating and ventilation — accessible via dedicated icons on the screen (V2 version)

·         Brightness adjustment — most owners find the screen bright enough at mid-brightness for comfortable day and night use

Note on brightness: Some owners find the upgrade screen slightly brighter than the factory unit at its lowest setting, particularly at night. This is normal and most owners adjust to it quickly. Check the brightness settings in the screen menu if you find it too bright in dark conditions.

Common questions

Will it affect my warranty?

The climate control upgrade screen is a plug and play replacement that does not modify any vehicle wiring or systems. It connects via the existing factory connector and is removable without trace. For specific warranty questions regarding your vehicle, we recommend consulting your dealer.

Does it work with all 2013–2017 Vogue models?

The V2 screen is compatible with Range Rover Vogue L405 models from 2013 to 2017 that do not have a factory CD player in the climate panel position. For 2018–2020 models, please browse our updated range — the climate panel configuration changed for that generation.

What if I have an issue after fitting?

Our support team is available 24/7 via email at sales@victorious.shop and by phone Monday to Friday 9am–7pm on +44 203 943 9919. In most cases, any issue after fitting is resolved by re-checking the connector seating — a partially seated connector is the cause of 90% of reported issues.
